Junior Crime & Intelligence Analyst

Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Crime Centre as a Junior Crime & Intelligence Analyst based at Zinc Systems’ head office in Northamptonshire.

The Crime Centre is a team of experienced intelligence analysts, who take incident and intelligence reports from our client’s retail stores nationally, carry out investigations to identify links between offenders and crimes, liaising with security teams to coordinate efforts to prevent further offending and where appropriate work closely with police and other external partners to bring offenders to justice. 

As a member of the analyst team, you will play an important role in helping to keep our client’s people and customers safe from violence and verbal abuse, as well as supporting the efforts to reduce theft and other crime impacting it. You will collate incoming incident reports, involving theft, violence or verbal abuse. You will carry out assessments on the information to create intelligence packages and work with security teams, the clients and where appropriate law enforcement partners on the next course of action. You will be encouraged to take part in problem solving with the team and clients, to drive improvements across the crime centre and make their sites a safe place to shop and work.

Salary and hours: £27,000 – 40 hours per week

Reporting to: Senior Crime Investigator/Head Of Crime Centre

Closing date for applications: 10th January 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first response triage to all reported incidents.
  • Identify incidents of interest for further analysis in support of the crime and intelligence analytical and investigations team.
  • Produce high quality crime & intelligence analytical reports in support of the Crime Centre objectives.
  • Maintain regular communication with client and partner security teams.
  • Support the development, review and continuous improvement of all analytical processes and procedures.
  • Review and administer CCTV footage requested by the analytical team in response to high priority incidents.
  • Engage in team problem solving, workflow creation and improvement ideas to gain the best solutions. 
  • Respond to customer calls and requests within target guidelines and provide excellent customer experience.
  • Escalate serious incidents following SOPs to appropriate Crime Centre colleagues and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, other relevant legislation, and company and client quality standards
  • Participate in training and personal development required for your role.
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and tasks designated by your line manager.

Attributes

  • Computer literate with a variety of software, including Microsoft Office, Google and bespoke software.

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Ability to accurately follow detailed processes.

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in a crime intelligence role would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the retail market and/or experience of working within law enforcement would be an advantage.
  • Minimum A-Level, equivalent qualifications or an ability to demonstrate a similar level of education.
  • A bachelor degree would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Ability to operate within flexible working hours. The role will require Saturday working on a rota basis of 1 in 5
  • SIA CCTV Licence holder. (Training can be provided)
